How many perfect ideas did you get? How many of those you didn’t write down right away and later couldn’t remember them no matter how hard you tried? What a shame, right?

Actually, no! A rule of thumb for every idea is very simple: wait a few hours before writing it down. If an idea is any good, you will remember it. If you can’t remember it in a few hours, it probably wasn’t worth working with.

Waiting before writing the idea down is a good way of sorting out good ideas from the rest. If you can’t remember your own idea, why should readers find it worthy of remembering?
